DALE MCDOWELL COMPETES IN FIRECRACKER 100
1June 28th, 2013 - Dale McDowell entered the opening round of the 7th Annual Firecracker 100 on Thursday evening in his #17m Team Dillon Racing/Mastersbilt/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.

With 57 entries in attendance for the World of Outlaws (WoO) Super Late Model event Dale started the night by qualifying sixth fastest in his group before registering a second place finish in his heat race, which locked him into the ninth starting spot for the 30 lap, $6,000-to-win feature. He would go on to advance to a sixth place finish behind race winner, Josh Richards, Steve Shaver, Eric Wells, Davey Johnson, and Darrell Lanigan.

Friday night's program fell victim to rain and was rescheduled for Saturday afternoon. The $6,000-to-win program drew 59 cars to the oval, and the day started on a sour note as McDowell's time was disallowed due to his deck height not meeting requirements. As a result he started on the tail of his heat race, and with typical, daytime conditions reigning supreme, passing would be difficult. As a result he failed to transfer to the feature via heat race and b-main action, ending his outing early.

On Saturday evening rain once again plagued the program, but after a brief delay action was finally able to get underway. Via his preliminary event performances he started second in his heat race before racing to the win to lock into the redraw for the feature. After receiving the fifth starting spot for the 100 lap, $30,000-to-win finale. For the first half of the event, on a fast and heavy track, Dale raced in the top ten before retiring on lap 73 to a 14th place finish.
