TEAM DILLON RACING STAGES ATTACKS ON SOUTHERN NATIONALS

1July 28th, 2012 - Dale McDowell entered the finale for the 2012 Schaeffer's Southern Nationals Series on Saturday evening at Tazewell Speedway (Tazewell, Tennessee). Twenty-five competitors registered for the $5,300-to-win event on the wicked-fast, high-banked oval. With the top eight qualifiers locking into the feature Dale would qualify ninth fastest to earn the pole position for a b-main. After racing to the win in the b-main he locked into the ninth starting spot for the 53 lap finale. In the feature he would battle forward four spots on his way to a fifth place finish behind race winner, Chris Madden, Brad Neat, Mike Marlar, and Brett Miller. July 27th, 2012 - Dale returned to action on Friday evening as he took1 the #41 Team Dillon Racing/Warrior Super Late Model into battle at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tennessee) in a $5,300-to-win, Schaeffer's Southern Nationals Series event. With twenty-one entries on hand, the lineup for the feature event was set by time trials, and with the tenth fastest time he earned the tenth starting spot for the 53 lap finale. A very rough track greeted the competitors for the feature, and just past the halfway mark Dale would race into the top five before losing power steering, which forced him to retire to a twelfth place finish. 1July 22nd, 2012 - Sunday evening found Team Dillon Racing and Dale McDowell rolling into Rome Speedway (Rome, Georgia) with a $5,300-to-win, Schaeffer's Southern Nationals Series Super Late Model event at the 1/2 mile oval. Thirty-four competitors registered for battle, and with the ninth fastest time in qualifications McDowell locked into the ninth starting spot for the 53 lap finale. During the course of the main event he passed five cars on his way to a fourth place finish behind race winner, Clint Smith, Chris Madden, and Vic Hill. 1July 19th, 2012 - After a couple of weeks out of the driver's seat Dale McDowell returned to action in the #17m Team Dillon Racing/Warrior Super Late Model on Thursday evening at North Georgia Speedway (Chatsworth, Georgia) in the the third round of the Schaeffer's Southern Nationals Series. Thirty-six competitors registered for action in the $3,500-to-win event, and via time trials Dale locked into the sixth starting spot for the 35 lap feature. The team had high hopes for the main event, but mechanical woes would strike early in th feature relegating McDowell to a disappointing 23rd place finish. 1July 17th, 2012 - Ty Dillon entered his first-ever event at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tennessee) on Tuesday night in the second round of the Schaeffer's Southern Nationals Series. The night started on a high note as Ty qualified third fastest in the twenty-seven car field to lock into the third starting spot for the 35 lap, $3,500-to-win feature. Unfortunately he would see his main event quickly come to an end on the second lap when damage on his entry from a spin forced him pitside. He would be credited with a 23rd place finish.

July 16th, 2012 - Monday night found Team Dillon Racing returning to the track with 1both Austin Dillon and Ty Dillon behind the wheel of their respective Super Late Model entries in the $3,500-to-win Schaeffer's Southern Nationals Series opener at Wythe Raceway (Rural Retreat, Virginia). Twenty-five Super Late Models entered the event, and with the top eight qualifiers locking into the 35 lap feature, Austin would qualify second fastest to earn the second starting spot, while Ty would qualify sixth fastest to earn the sixth starting spot.

As the feature went green Austin battled with Chris Madden for the lead early in the event before ultimately settling into a sixth place finish. Ty would encounter difficulties early in the event with a lap 6 spin, which sent him to the tail of the field. Over the remainder of the event he rebounded to finish ninth.
