McDOWELL BATTLES WOES IN 43RD ANNUAL WORLD 100
1September 7th, 2013 - The 43rd Annual World 100 was held over the weekend at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) as 112 entries participated in the crown jewel.

On Thursday night the field was divided into twin, $5,000-to-win events, and Dale started his night by earning the 5th starting spot for his heat race before advancing to a 3rd place finish to lock into the 17th starting spot for the 25 lap, preliminary feature. In the main event he advanced ten spots to record a 7th place finish.

Friday evening found another pair of $5,000-to-win events being contested, and the 2005 World 100 winner finished 2nd in his heat race to transfer to the 10th starting spot for the finale. In the main event he again found himself racing in the top ten throughout before crossing the finish line in 8th.

The weekend drew to a close on Saturday evening with the $46,000-to-win finale. Heat race line-ups were determined by a driver's best qualifying night on the two rounds prior along with an invert of six, and as a result Dale started on the pole of his heat race. He raced to a 2nd place finish in his heat race to lock into the 7th starting spot for the 100 lap finale, which was held in front of a capacity crowd of over 23,000 fans. McDowell raced in the top ten early in the event before ultimately retiring to a 26th place finish with an ill-handling car.
