TEAM DILLON RACING STRUGGLES IN WOO COMPETITION AT CHARLOTTE
2October 11th, 2012 - It was a rough night for Team Dillon Racing on Wednesday evening as Ty Dillon, Austin Dillon, and Dale McDowell entered the $10,000-to-win, Showdown at The Dirt Track at Charlotte. A heavy, fast, and rough track greeted the forty-five competitors on hand for the event, and in time trials McDowell broke a motor, while Ty ripped his nose loose. As a result Ty elected to retire from the program, and McDowell took over the driving duties on the #41. After starting on the tail of his heat, due to switching cars, Dale rocketed to a second place finish to lock into the redraw for the feature, where he received the second starting spot alongside Eric Wells. As the 50 lap finale went green McDowell bolted to the lead and would hold the top spot until lap 15, when a broken, lower a-arm forced him to retire from the event to a disappointing twentieth place finish.

Austin Dillon would not be immune to challenges throughout the night either as he qualified twenty-sixth fastest before racing his way into a fourth place finish in his heat despite losing power steering. The team made repairs for the featue, and he started thirteenth. He would race his way into the top ten, reaching as high as the seventh spot, before a flat tire with just nine laps to go brought his night to an end in the twelfth position.
