TEAM DILLON RACING COMPETES IN DIRT TRACK WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
1October 20th, 2012 - Dale McDowell and Ty Dillon entered the 32nd Annual Dirt Track World Championship over the weekend at Portsmouth Raceway Park (Portsmouth, Ohio). The $50,000-to-win, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event attracted a stellar field of 94 Super Late Models to the facility on Friday afternoon. However, before preliminary action could be contested, persistent rain in the area forced the event to be consolidated into a single show on Saturday afternoon.

Dale qualified ninth fastest in his group to earn the third starting spot for the third heat race. With the top three cars transferring to the feature McDowell worked his way to the lead on the second lap of his heat and never looked back on his wayt to the win, which locked him into the fifth starting spot for the 100 lap finale. He would battle in the top five for much of the early going until lap 37, when his nose rolled under his entry forcing him to retire from the event to a 22nd place finish.

Ty Dillon began his weekend by qualifying twenty-sixth fastest in his group, which resulted in him starting ninth in the fifth heat. After advancing two spots to a seventh place finish Ty was relegated to a b-main, where he started seventh. A seventh place finish in the b-main left him short of a transfer to the main event, but it did earn him the fifteenth starting spot in the $3,000-to-win, Jim Dunn Memorial Non-Qualifiers race. Dillon finished twelfth in the final rundown in the non-qualifier event.
